I got a couple boxes from a chase branch today, which uses brinks. I went through the first box and got absolutely ZERO coppers. The strange thing is, I got some boxes from a branch that is a block down the street that also uses Brinks and the boxes were almost half copper, which is fantastic. Have any of you ever gotten skunk BWR penny boxes, and what is the reason for such a difference in copper from such close banks that both use Brinks?

i have heard some people on the penny thread and it has happen to them before...never me though thankfully....but the people there seem to sugest that someone near is using a rydell sorter and going through A LOT of boxes a week and then just dumping them all at once...this could lead to it being that if hundreds of dollars in pennies ends up going to the brinks sorter or what ever they use its possible to just get the dump back...this is why some people mark there halves so they know when or if and how long it takes for them to get it back.

So do you think I should keep ordering pennies from this bank? Also, do you know for sure Brinks can sort pennies? I've seen on some forums people saying that it is illegal for them to do so.

You are probably right about someone having a ryedale sorter. I have heard that sometimes they can reject early wheats because the copper alloy is slightly different. I went through the pennies again and found a single copper penny, a 1941 wheat. Also, the box didn't turn out to be a bust, because I found a 1998 WAM and a 1995 DDO. The doubling isn't perfect but is very strong on a few letters. I will post pictures if I ever get a USB microscope.
