Thinking of picking up this Arcadius but the green spots worry me a bit. In some spots it looks like regular green gunk, but in other spots it more closely resembles BD. I emailed this coin to a friend and he thinks they are the remains of the patina. So gunk, BD, or patina, what do you think it is? Thanks.

That certainly looks like classic BD. If it is a soft powdery substance on the surface of the coin then it will need treating to avoid spreading.

It looks like BD, but like Martin said, check it to see if it is soft. If it is hard it is most likely mineral deposits. But it does look like BD.

I wish I could but the coin isn't mine; I found it on the internet.

It looks like it to me, even the patina on the obverse looks effected.

echizento is soooo correct => even/especially the non-green reverse areas look as though they've already taken a good BD beating!! (good call, echi-z)

... plus, the coin doesn't have great eye-appeal regardless, right? (I'd pass on it)
