I got these at a bank in Mississippi in the late 70's. I thought them odd and managed to save half of them.

I think they are plated, but I am not sure..so I thought I would ask.

yep, painted on. the strokes go from left to right.

Thought so, whats with the vertical lines? Painted on?

From looking at these photos, I feel they are painted, not plated.

Paint strokes look to go North/South. I got to looking at one closer and it can be seen on the Obverse set, the paint has worn off a bit and the original color can be seen.

especially on the one 1972 you have. the paint looks really wrong. anyway, still neat and unique:)
