Both attractive coins with detail and patina, the Constantine is very pleasing to the eye, I suspect this is one of the reasons it hit the $21 mark. Love the horses on the reverse

To be honest, I would have expected the Constantine coin to sell for somewhat more than $22. It is very pleasing to the eyeball. I would think it could easily be worth half again as much.

I agree that it is probably worth more, but I have been hemorrhaging money on nonessentials and have been trying to curb my splurges. Not very good at it though, I just tried to spend another 60 bucks on several specimens of a coin that I have never pursued before. Someone else won, but it was looking like I was going to get 4 beautiful suckling twin Rome commemeratives. Lost them all at the last minute though. Can't win them all.

The price wasn't bad for a Constantine posthumous quadriga. Too bad the shipping raised it even higher. I usually divide the cost of shipping between coins and add it for the total price. This is my coin that I paid $40 for including shipping. I purchased it because it has VF grade details and appears to be made out of a different metal. Perhaps more lead or pewter mixed in with the copper. I haven't seen one like it yet before or after. Most people I talked to didn't like this coin. Not sure why but I like it and glad I purchased it when I first started collecting. Would I pay $40 for it now? Probably not. I would try to get a better deal.

I've been collecting that series and have been watching the prices on ebay. It can be hard to find decent ones with intact mint marks for under $100 with all the coin hoarding crooks on there. Yours looks familiar, like one Coinscrubber was selling recently, is that the same one? It looks like it, and I like the look. A lot of detail despite the slightly crusty appearance.

I purchased mine almost a year ago so it wasn't from Coin Scrubber. I haven't ever purchased a coin from him yet but I might in the future, who knows.
In some cases I like natural looking coins that haven't been over-cleaned too much. Although, I do have some that have been cleaned too much.

Ah, gotcha. It has a similar look and price to one of his, if memory serves, and it is a distinctive look. Dirt and crust tend to lessen my attraction to a coin, but yours is one where there is really nothing to gain and everything to lose by taking it further, so it is just fine and there is a great amount of detail present. It's nice to see coins where the previous owners knew when to stop. I wouldn't pay $40 for it, but it is not an unreasonable price to ask.

Nice coins and for an excellent price. I love the reverse on the Constans, I had seen one like that before.

I've looked at the Constans briefly (I'm at work) with a couple of different magnifiers, but something about it seems odd. There are some lines that make me suspect light tooling, so I want to look at it under better light and magnification. But who would go through the trouble of tooling a coin just to sell it for under $4? Dunno, maybe I am just not used to having nice coins - either way, it'll be interesting to check into.

love that quadriga! I've been shopping for a nice one of those....hard to find one where you can see everything as well as yours.

It's difficult to say for sure from the angle of your picture, but it doesn't seem tooled to me. I like it, RIC VIII Trier 185. Ivy leaf with upright stalk.

This is what I was looking at, the eyebrow where it meets the front of the portrait. Just looks sort of crudely carved into the bust instead of it being raised relief like pretty much every other feature on the coin. Not sure what to make of it. The patina seems intact, it just looks out of place on the coin.
