Hi all,

I am fairly inexperienced when it comes to collecting paper money. My girlfriend found a 1969 $20 note for me today. Is this something that is collectible? Or should I spend it on her? It is in fairly average condition but good for a piece of money that old. There is nothing special about the serial number and it is from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Pictures to come! Thanks!

It's sad to think that someone can say that the year 1969 is "THAT OLD"...

I guess being from the Woodstock Generation we must be old geezers to you guys & gals...

The condition seems to be around Fine or Very Good so the value wouldn't be much more than the face value ($20). I'd say keep it, and spend a different $20 on her. ;D

Looks like it is worth $21 http://www.uscurrencyauctions.com/$20notes.htm You should spend it on your GF. I am sure you will get a much better return then selling it .

I agree with Ark. Keep it because she gave it to you, and spend another $20 or two on her. GFs soak that sappy stuff up.

I love finding and holding onto currency that is "before my time." In my case, however, we're talking about Silver Certificates and "red seal" United States notes. Your note looks perfectly normal to me and I would spend it without a second thought. Again, though, that's just because I grew up with those notes and the modern "big head" notes look very strange to me...

Woodstock, Woodstock, sometimes it starts to come back to me but then I'm not sure. Some of my old friends say I had a very good time there, but I'm not sure. The name does ring a bell sometimes but most times I'm not sure why.
