I just heard about these and started to look into how good they are or aren't. As you know the price range is 3900 - 7000 dollars US. I was watching a video of a guy using the Golden King and it looked like a pain in the b*tt to use.

The video looked like this:

Push this, do that, redo this push that, reset this then redo that the check this then redo this then look at that then stop to use the restroom then repeat the first 8 steps.....During all these procedures I could have dug the hole and been done with three or four other targets. Plus, have you seen the size of the box for the Golden King? You may as well take an old laptop and hang it around your neck while detecting so you can research each item after you dig it out of the ground.

My first thought was the display would be hard to read in direct sunlight. Sure enough, some of the reviews said it was difficult to read in the sunlight. Also, while watching the video of the machine in use it made more noises than someone shaking a box of nuts and bolts.

If you own one or have a friend who owns one, what are your thoughts?

PS I've been metal detecting since 1989. I have owned numerous machines. Currently, I own a Fisher 1266XB and a Whites Spectrum XLT. In the near future I'll share my finds.
