Hi forum,

I know this may be in the wrong forum section but for me this is an unidentified coin.

This coin is advertised as a 1865 Three Cent Nickel however, the slab information when inputed the serial into the PCGS database is a 3 cent silver value $2,150. As shown on the top right hand side of the slab, however the coin inside is obviously a 3 cent nickel. So what coin is this? and is this a slabbing error, or is it a fake?

It did come from a very reputable auction house

We have had this happen. They mis-printed the label and it should be the nickel and not silver. I believe if you send it in they correct it for free since it was their mistake. Have seen examples where the mint-mark is not represented on the label as well...

Also, chinese copies of slabs are known to exist, however very rare and usually on very rare coins...Real coin, fake holder and grade also....I think this is just mis-printed one however.

it is a 3 cent nickel instead of a 3 cent silver like the label says it is. This type of thing happens quite a bit and its just called a clerical error and really doesn't mean allot. If sent back in to PCGS they will fix it for free but you would still have to pay shipping both ways which seems like more than I would want to do since the error was their fault in the first place. I guess if they were at a show you could take it to them personally and have it changed but besides doing that most people don't worry about these types of clerical errors on the label
