zookeeperz Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 698 Posts	Posted 10/07/2020 6:52 pm A few that were too cheap to say no. 1831 Penny. I need one so as a gap filler this will do the job nicely. Its a little edgey for the purists but these particular years are becoming more and more expensive. 1837 Half penny again another gap filed same for the 1856 half penny.The 1902 Half Penny is hopefully a final upgrade Report this Post to the Staff

You should really collect some earlier ones like the gorgeous George V Kruger Grey Cruciform shields type and the Edward VII. I love your copper too, any William IV copper is always nice especially examples like that. I knew of the 1831 as in the modern version of "A Christmas Carol" - the one with the Black Mrs Cratchitt, Scrooge mentions Marley was buried with an 1831 and 1837 penny on his eyes and the coins haunt him in his dreams! Paddy B that is a really nice shilling. I only seem to see worn Victorian shillings here before the Jubilee era (Kind of like most of the Florins and Halfcrowns before 1887 for that matter). Sorry about the abundance of 1923's but You will be surprised what looks like something as clear as day from a picture turns out to be be something completely different.
