Lovely shillings absolute gem quality. Latest addition to the hoard lol. beautiful coin though probably one of the worse obverses in our coin list for being a total arse to photograph apart from Edward VII. Because of the lack of detail on George V portraits which is notorious for being a weakly struck coin unless you have lighting for a football stadium your on a hiding to nothing to capture what you actually see. So excuse my Photography skills. Its the best I got lols. UNC or as close as you can get full lustre believe it or not. I took it on trust when I bought it because of the finite detail of the coin the lustre would be there as it didn't show either in the sales pictures. Anyroad here is a lovely 1928 George V .500 Silver Half crown. 2 different lighting settings neither are great but probably the bottom one I slightly favour for the reverse but the colour more akin to the first set   |

Picked up in a toot box . I was surprised these are quite valuable coins £150 in XF 1862 Straits settlements Copper one Cent   |

Lovely pieces, yes Zookeeperz those early Straits settlement coins are scrace, I think the words "India straits" was only used briefly and hence the scarcity factor.
The Victorian sixpence is a knockout and the 1928 Halfcrown looks stunning from any angle.

I love that 3d, not sure if its Maundy or not but any early KG3 silver is scarce and that coin is in really great condition. Meanwhile, I got my 1900 Florin yesterday and suspect its an Elingamite coin. If it is its better, this shot I took of it is definitely better than the sellers photo and shows lustre.   The HMS Elingamite was a Royal Navy supply ship which went down in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand in late 1902, amongst its cargo was a massive barrel and chests full of coins for use in New Zealand. Amongst the coins were several 1902 Half sovereigns and a lot of English silver Halfcrowns, Florins and Shillings mostly dated 1900 and in VF condition. The coins were mostly recovered in a series of salvage dives in 1965 and 1967 by Wade Doak and Kelly tarlton. Most of the silver had fused together and had turned black. A lot was cleaned and you can tell by the environmental damage and black marks. If an Elingamite coin, its scarce and a better one as many were bent and uncleanable. |

In much better condition then normally found here downunder. Hmmm is the toning natural or due to the case? Is leaving it in the case okay?   |

Can't see the full case there, is it hard or soft.
But the even toning on all those coins - does not bode well.
