Lovely coin, I turned one down as it was too expensive.
Yours was much better than mine!

Munchkins decided they wanted a water feature in our back yard and found this about 2ft down. House was built in the early 50s so probably from then. Surface is trashed but a great memory piece.

Interesting coin, the Lion is quite sharp, yet George is worn. Was it exposed to the elements on the heads side. My latest purchase in a while, a 1943 Threepence! Not a brass one though, a silver one. This coin was on its way out by 1943 as the brass coin became a hit (Much less fiddly) and after 1941 the silver coins were only minted for colonial territories. It was likely this was used in the West Indies and Malta (As by 1943 most of the Dominions and Pacific colonies had coinage). The mintage of 1.3 million is quite high like 1939 - but this one is basically EF which makes it a bit better. It is very small next to its brass cousin which saw over 100 million minted that year!! Fairly generous numbers were minted in 1942 - 1944 and a few in 1945 which were melted down (Now super rare).

I agree, mine is a similar condition with the King (Weak strike), but your Obverse is much nicer.
Very clean coin too by the way. I forgot I also brought a Florin upgrade, but will show it later.

This is the one it's replacing. Some of the detail is ok on this, but the extra wearing knocks it down a lot.

I would say it was more than a slight upgrade. Well done!
