UK good fine. The flan crack doesn't detract. Worth around £45.

Couple of nice George V silver coins. A really nice toned 1917 .925 Silver threepence and a 1923.500 silver Half Crown.

Arrived this morning. I don't generally get enthused over many coins but my photographic skills as basic as they are just doesn't do justice to this George V 1923 .500 Silver Shilling. GEM BU I guess on a US grading scale it would breeze 66-67 88-91 on UK scale. It's as good as they come.Blues pinks gold and rainbow tones very pleased with it.
The low light pics are an attempt show the beautiful tones and hues that cannot be seen from my picture. Not a total succes but you get the idea lol

zookeeperz - those are brilliant coins! You hardly ever get to see British silver coins of the early 1920s so nice: people hoarded the last few dates of .925 silver coins but the .500 ones were just spent and saw heavy usage. They also tended to suffer from weak strikes and ghosting.

@NumisRob - Gresham struck again! The same happened around 1947, according to my dad. I wasn't there to see it.

@zookeeperz - that is indeed a lovely coin.

Yes this is true Rob. So many are struck from overly worn dies to the point George V sometimes even on BUNC coins is almost totally bald. Actually this era is a great help for learning the difference between circulation wear and die wear.I have been fortunate to snaffle a few nice examples that were early strikes and those exxamples really show of the craftmanship of our coin designers

Another lovely English Silver Coin. Scarcer year and scarce in top grades George VI 1938 English Reverse .500 Silver Shilling. Much nicer in the hand.
