"Finally!" I hear you all saying!! (MatthewVincent= the loudest!!)

I find distinct honor and privilege in the announcement of our next "Days of..." thread:

The 25 Days of Barber coins!!

This thread will include Barber Dimes, Barber Quarters and Barber Half Dollars!!

How does this work?
On the first day (according to the schedule below), we all post pictures of our 1892 Barber coins!! On the second day, we post our 1893 Barber coins! And we then proceed smartly all the way through our Barber dimes, Quarters and Half Dollars until the last day!!

This thread will run on the following schedule:

5 November: 1892 (all mint marks, errors, varieties)
6 November: 1893
7 November: 1894
8 November: 1895
9 November: 1896
10 November: 1897
11 November: 1898
12 November: 1899
13 November: 1900
14 November: 1901
15 November: 1902
16 November: 1903
17 November: 1904
18 November: 1905
19 November: 1906
20 November: 1907
21 November: 1908
22 November: 1909
23 November: 1910
24 November: 1911
25 November: 1912
26 November: 1913
27 November: 1914
28 November: 1915 (The Last Half Dollar!!)
29 November: 1916

Who's with me? Let's go!!!

This is going to be the BEST "Days of..." thread EVER!

A little jumpy aren't we? Wow! Who starts a classic "Days of..." thread off with a proof set?

(Putting back my "circulated" Barber coins away and closing the lid)

Now, just WHERE did I put my rhyming dictionary?

Ahem. Ok.

A few of us, ok, a lot
Will have a Dime and Quarter.
And while my halves are not so great
My dimes make most mouths water!

And while I'll be outdone on most
I'll state it quite direct:
My dimes make dealers point me out:
"Ya gotta see his set!"

A set of all 74
Quite balanced as to strike.
From Fine to AU, decent shape,
Oh for the love of Mike!

I gotta say, to be most true
Moe has thrown done the glove.
So I shall rise up to the task
And plague Moe from above.

(And below, and from side to side. Tease tease!)

The best "days of ..." thread ever?
Those "V" nickels are a tough act to follow.

But I'll give it my best shot!

Windycity,

You can edit your own post and replace it with a humble apology.
Click on the third icon, above your post and the one with the pencil, and delete the text. Then throw yourself on our collective mercy.
Not to worry. Go and sin no more! I forgive your enthusiasm.

But BOY, this is gonna be tougher than the nickels!

(See, we Barber people are vicious, tenacious, obsessed and quite vocal! THANKS, MOE!!!!!!!!!!"

Oh, and poetry, while not required, livens up a "days of ..." thread.

On second thought, Windy, leave those proofs be. We all need to drool over them as we wait!
Will garner interest in Moe's thread.

Alas, my friends,
I have failed you.
I promised A "V" Nickel,
But I was untrue.

I give you word,
salutations and all.
That I will post Barbers,
that will make appall.

My Barbers aren't best,
None better than Great.
But they are from a collection,
of a man sadly late.

So please hear me out,
my collection ill show,
It wont be as pretty,
But ill give it a go!

And now with that, may the games begin!

Really, these Barber coins are outstanding. They inspire.
We do not have the cache of the CC Mint, nor gold, nor proof Walkers. But what we do have is --- recognition.
Most everyone has a few, sadly worn. To share our slightly better coins is a gift of love and of ... not a gift, but rather:
BRAGGING!
We all need to brag a little.
And Moe, behind a wall of false modesty, does the same - gotta love Moe!
Now, how do I scan about seven dimes in slabs and make them clear? Have not figured that out yet.

And wait: my 1895-O Dime and 1913-S quarter are about to get their day in the sunshine!

Go, Moe, start the show!

Oh, yes Matthew, patience. Wait, wait ...

Three a day for twenty-five days ... minus the 94-S, lots of scans to be done of the dimes.
My quarters and halves must be limited to those which are a tad nicer than slick.

Rest in Peace

On the V nickel thread I did bail,
too much with moving or not,
so pics to take I did fail,
and my participation went to pot.

Still our move is in the air,
Barbers we have right on this table,
I will caution so to be fair,
pics we may post if we are able.

But half are packed already!
A Dansco with dimes of low repute,
Are boxed with George Ike and Kennedy,
The ladies SBA and Sac ugly and cute.

So those that remain free
may get on here
we shall see
If fate does not sneer.
(OK, that verse is a bit rough LOL)

Iffin we can, we shall post.

Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

Hey, you chose to start this one on Guy Fawkes Day, not me.
