Just hit the jackpot the other day, a friend mentioned he had a number of duplicate Quarters he wanted to sell to help me finish my set. So, as I type this, I have a pair of 1898-S Quarters both PCGS 55 so I have a choice !

Also on its way are an 1908-Phila in PCGS 58, 1913-Phila in PCGS 58 and a pair of 1914-D's in PCGS (58 and 63).

This was a total surprise and a much appreciated gesture on his part.
Another friend is chomping at the Bit, as he has a laundry list as well and
will be thrilled to,fill in some of his missing AU 55/58 dates.

Once the coins are received, it's off to CAC, then to MessyDesk for images.
I have almost four dozen Quarters at CAC right now awaiting inspection. Those are also scheduled to go to MessyDesk.

So, please bear with me, once I have the new images, I will post them immediately. It'll still take some time before all of this transpires.

Indeed, the 'days of' topics provide an online data base of coins actually held
by collectors who chose them with much thought. These collectors may be asked how they made their decisions. A valuable resource. Long live 'days of'
and long live Moe145, my favorite stooge: nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

Elbesaar,
Do you by any chance have a 1909-O
quarter in AU? The BCCS had a survey back in 2006 and it was
specifically
asking this question, as it appeared
to be quite rare. However, the survey
uncovered several examples.
Still, it remains quite elusive.

Note: this message was rejected in a PM and I have no reason why?
There is no link mentioned.

Matthew

I agree, the '09O in Au is a VERY tough coin.
In fact, in VF or above it is tough

Matthew, I wish I had a 1909-O Quarter in any grade above VF 35.
I once owned a raw AU 58 - sent it to ANACS back in 1995 - and it
came back UNC Details - Cleaned. NET : AU

When I bought a MS 64 back in 1996, I ended up selling the ANACS
coin. In 2011, I sold off my 1st Barber quarter collection and over the
last year or so, I have started another AU+ set. A few MS toners but
most coins are 53-58.

In 2012, I flew to Atlanta to pick up a consignment of Quarters, which contained
a coin I had followed for ten years. It was now in a PCGS 55 Holder but had a
GOLD CAC sticker. I had chased images that were juiced. The coin was nothing like
the images. I ended up selling that Gold CAC coin to another Florida collector, who
has since sent the 55 Gold CAC back to PCGS for regrade, and it's currently in a
PCGS 58 holder.

I seriously doubt I'll ever get another coin that will work in this set. There
is another 09-O coming up for auction, at Central States, it's one of the
three available from PCGS, and it's an AU 58. Believe you, me, it'll be a whole
lot cheaper to pick up a MS 62-63-64.

Good luck to all who search for one of these coins.
Rest in Peace
