Wow, Elbesaar, you gave me a lot to look at this morning.

And the dogs are a bonus! My first (childhood) dog was a red Doberman.
Rest in Peace

Stacks Bowers had an auction this afternoon.
I bid on five Barber dimes [ all PCGS 58's ]
and won four of them.

Here's a beauty - and a duplicate 58:

I don't know why, maybe its the geometry of the coin design, but Barber dimes are often found with amazing toning. I buy them whenever I can find them.

$0.99 "1898" 1898-S Barber dime. Seller didn't mention the mintmark anywhere.

But this little beauty somehow found its way into my collection, as well. Doesn't look very interesting, until you check out the bottom of the obverse...

Much like CBH's, the more Barber coins I collect, the more I find myself enjoying them.

Jules was a very prominent CBH collector. Good pickup, paralyse!

My attempts to get the Reiver 1901 to photograph with coin in hand; these have all been processed in Photoshop, some with enhanced contrast to draw out the colors. Coin has great luster & looks better than low MS examples.

A few years ago when I was the Barber coinage co-instructor at the ANA Summer Seminars in Colorado Springs, CO, I
picked up a desk display folding Type Set. It was designed to house Barber coins and an IHC ... so, I finally decided what to do with it - I had bought a raw Dime a few weeks back - thinking I'd get it graded - but decided its probably AT - and wouldn't get a solid grade.

I didn't want to buy high end coins to be placed in this
holder. { Just in case it magically disappears }.

I have these coins in the holder so far, I have not found
a raw Nickel yet to go with these 1898 Barbers and IHC:

Still looking for a nice XF-AU 1898 Nickel - raw -
which is turning out to be quite difficult.
