In my view, the Gold standard has nothing to do with how much physical Gold exists in the world. The value of a Dollar can be set on a quantity of Gold, just as a Standard kilogram is set on a weight at the International Bureau of Weights and measures.

Everyone doesn't need to own a precision tested metal weight to know how much a kilogram is.

It's when the merchant takes the 20 lb sack of wheat and prints 50 lbs on the package.

Think about it, it'll sink in

A $16 TRILLION debt, not to mention upwards of $125 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities?

And if we were on a gold standard we would either be borrowing gold or would have declared bankruptcy and wiped out everyones pensions a few times by now.

The system of money isn't the problem, its wasteful spending. People want to vote in big government politicans and thats what you get with big government. Gold standard or fiat it doesn't matter when you have big government spenders in office, the end result is the same
