I remember hearing the guy that was a teenager when he worked there when they audited it the last time say those very words. If it is empty or not ours I don't think anyone really wants to know because if it is we will lose all negotiating power we have with all other countries

Let's face it. it would take a FULL scale invasion to breach that sort of security.
The old saying "As safe as Fort Knox" is synonymous with absolute security.

IF the gold is their IF it belongs the the American people and IF it is real are the most important issues.
if all these IF's can be answered in a resounding YES then it would be to the government's advantage to prove this and dispel the sense of doom and gloom about the value of the US dollar.

On the other hand if any of these questions return an answer of NO then you will have to draw your own conclusions about THAT outcome.

Id have to disagree with that. Assuming its all there, really though people just need to think its there, proving that wouldnt bring any positives for the government. With the amount of US money out there now theres not enough gold to make a huge dent in the deficit or really have people say oh it doesn't matter they have enough gold anyway.

What I mean is if they had a trillion in gold down there it creates unnecessary worries since thats not even 10 percent of what we owe and soon wont even be 5 percent. That could cause PMs to reach those sky high levels ect.

Its all just smoke and mirrors and thats what it has to be now a days. The world has never been able to support an economic system where everyone is a have. Part of the game is the illusion of unlimited resources which fort knox gives us. Then of course theres the security issues of an audit as well

There is more gold in the West Point Mint vaults than there is in Fort Knox. The last time people saw the vaults full of gold was in 1974, the public hasn't seen in the vaults since then. I don't believe there is any significant amount of gold in Fort Knox. It is still used to store priceless items such as the 10 "stolen" 1933 double eagles but the claim that the vaults are home to millions of ounces of gold, I believe that is a lie.
Today it is merely a symbol of security and stability.

One of these days we will find that it is no different than the Bastille.

"The last time people saw the vaults full of gold was in 1974"

The year I was born was 1974 and no doubt no coinidence as I started my DEVIOUS plan to take over the world round that time and began manipulating the government into sending me gold bars each and every day to keep me from wreaking havoc and such....

Oops did I type that out loud, disregard and carry on....

The real kicker is that the Ten 1933 Double Eagles were never "stolen" since there was not a shortage of gold when weighed for melting. I believe it was Isreal Swift that traded atleast 2 dozen Double Eagles in early 1933 at the treasury window for the "NEW" ones... I believe he was arrested in the early 40's when he was caught selling some, and when questioned by the Feds, replied there were no more... Some 60+ years later, his heirs were stupid enough to submit 10 to the Mint for authentication instead of just sending one piece... While Mr.Swift never stold the coins, he did lie, and the family never claimed ownership of them on his estate (I assume for taxes) and believe the Government should have given the family 10 Double Eagles, or the current spot price at the time the Mint received them, with a note that they are illegal to own.

That is like the Holly grail of gold coins eh, the 1933 double eagle....

I don't know Broken very interesting, but I do know the New York mint perhaps has ONCE again (this happens more often then your local furniture stores going out of business blow out speciual sale, everything must go) RELEASED a special case of never before seen gold 10 dollar Indians. Call now for off the chart high prices and shipping in ten days or maybe even less....

My point these old gold coins turn up all the time, via from lost hidden case found by somebody WAY luckier then I and more often then not WAY les intelligent then my solid high 80's IQ level, lol. Such as the foolish fam in question that flagged down the federal spot light with that ten coin send to PCGS or whoever....

I have been hearing their pitch on my local sports talk radio station lately....

That may have been all of them, personally I believe more are in the family and that was the test run when the 1 was allowed to be auctioned off. Theyres really no telling how many were taken and security was much easier to get around. It was quite sometime before it was figured out hed been doing that so he got basically as many as he wanted
