I picked up this 1963 Quarter ANACS MS64 PL Breen 4406 this weekend
at the local coin show. Anybody ever see a PL slabbed Type B reverse quarter before? TIA Harvey

I very seldom see the PL or SL,SPL etc.
designation much anymore on cert. coins.
I know it used to be big on the morgans.
Nice to see it again though.
After all these years I did not even know the Breen #
on the Rev. B's. Is there an FS #, Coneca, Wexler etc.
on these ? And also Harvey, what would the 64-D type "C"
number be ?

Hey Indian,

The 1964D Rev C is in the CherryPickers Guide as
FS-25-1964D-901.

It's really, really tough getting the PL designation- I've had over 2 dozen coins that I thought were unquestionably PL specimens (literally able to read newspaper print from several inches away in the coin's reflection), but have bever been granted the designation on a coin. I've gotten star grades * and + grades from PCGS on them, but never a "PL", not sure how to crack that nut.

Great coin though, thanks for sharing!

I started on a set of PL/DPL coins a few years ago but as you see I didn't get very far PL/DPL Set

Edit: I am not sure how it says I added the 1878 Rev of 79 yesterday as I haven't even visited there in a few months

Thanks Harvey for the info.
Also good catch on those 2 64-D's C's on ebay.
Also reminded me to look for (and find:) my paper
guide that I have for determining the PL's etc.
I used to use it on morgans. Also has the exact instructions
for use. Type and wattage of overhead light used, distance of light
from the paper as well as the distance guide for reading of the print.
If I remember correctly it was gauged for SL,SPL,PL,DPL and DMPL
