At 12:30 eastern time gold is up $34 and silver up almost $1. I am surprised to see this move today. I figured it was coming but expected it a day or two later. I wonder what all of this portends?

I think this simply reflects panic buying as people try to stock up before whatever disaster they think will happen if "the other guy" gets elected instead of the guy they want to see elected.

I dunno, guys. Maybe what we are seeing is just a relief rally? People will be SO GLAD that it's finally over, regardless of "victor". :-/

A one or two percent move in a global market? Might have as much to do with rain in Africa or holidays in India than which male millionaire wins an election in the U.S.

I don't think it is directly related to the election. That probably is a component of it but I expected folks to sit on cash until AFTER the election results were finalized. The move of this size just seemed to come out of nowhere, especially when dollar strength has been so strong lately.

They say that the trading is so thin that A SINGLE large customer can move the market where they want it by simply entering or exiting the market. Meaning that if a big boy entered the market heavily long then the market would go long just by his buying enough shares. Guaranteed profits. Nice little gimmick, no?
