The coins of Edward I, II, and early in the reign of Edward III, are so similar that they only came up with a system to differentiate them a little over a century ago. That said, the king's name is abbreviated EDWA (followed by one R for Rex). The Edward I pennies tended to say EDW; those in the early years of Edward III's reign read EDWAR. I'll vote for Edward II.
