I just received this Æ Semis of Augustus that was struck at Ilici (Elche - Spain) in 12 BC. I find these Spanish provincial coins fascinating. I guess that's why I have so many. But this is my first from Ilici.

OBV: AVGVSTVS DIVI·F, Laureate head right
REV: Q.PAPIR.CAR.Q.TER.MONT.II.VIR.Q., Hexastyle temple with IVNONI inscribed on the entablature, C I IL A among the columns of the temple.
4.9g, 21 mm

Nice sand patina! The temple is great and the IVNONI spelled out is like icing on the cake with IVNONI written in icing...really cool!

In the past I have looked at coins of Augustus from the Iberian Peninsula, what you might find interesting is the Castulo and Celtiberian coinage of the area. There are some really neat coins....Many you coin makes me hungry...kinda looks like a cookie!

I have three from Castulo and two from Colonia Patricia (Cordoba - spain) to go along with this one from Ilici. When I was in Andalusia last year, I fell in love with your country malamute67. Where is LLeida?
