Nice pick-ups! That's a good set of notes for your type set. Congrats! Oh, and my new 1963 red seal 2 is on its way to my set, fyi!

They look really nice. It may just be poorly printed, but the red printed writing on the Hawaiian note doesn't look like English, anyone know what it is?

I was going to guess that but it seemed ridiculous that a Hawaiian US note would have Hebrew on it.

I like how the series 1928 Federal Reserve Notes were redeemable in gold when they also issued series 1928 Gold Certificates... Makes one wonder why no FRN's were redeemable in silver !
Imagine living back then when Federal Reserve Notes (Green Seal), Silver Certificates (Blue Seal), Gold Certificates (Yellow Seal), Legal Tender Notes (Red Seal), National Currency (Brown Seal) type 1 & 2 Local Bank Notes, National Currency (Brown Seal) Federal Reserve Bank Notes, Brown Seal Hawaii Notes and Yellow Seal North Africa Notes ALL CIRCULATED SIDE BY SIDE...
[I know the Hawaii & North Africa Currency was issued for overseas use only, but found it's way state side after the war and Gold Certificates could only be saved as a collectable after FDR banned ownership of gold coins]

Heh. Could you imagine trying to spend them all at the same time today? Not that I'd do it, but I'm just imagining the reaction of a cashier when confronted with a multi-color assortment of bills...

Quote: how much over face value did you pay these? Over face value? Um, a lot. Depends on the rarity of the note and the condition. Quote: I wish we have coin show in our city. Yeah, me too. Still, I guess an hour drive away isn't too bad, all things considered.

One hour is not too bad. A weekend trip with your son is worth it.

Lucky you got gas to go to a show!! I missed today's bourse out on Long Island. I live in NYC and can't get gas yet. Hopefully tomorrow, I'm an even number, however my wife thinks I odd though!! Hung around the house looking at my coins. Oh well I'll have to wait another two weeks.
