It looks Iranian - what size and weight is it ?

It weighs 22'7 grams and measures 37 mm.

Compare it to this 5000 dinars http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces19017.html I cant read the date on yours. Click on the coin and it will give you a larger image.

It does look like 1320 though

Well, I've had a look at mine and compared it with the one on Numista and they do look identical. But which piece of the writing is the actual date? There appear to be 3 lines of writing there.

Also, could you tell me if there is a site where you can work out the dates on coins from countries like that?

en numista as above, go to search for a coin and use the special keyboard - problem is working out what language it is in

No the date is on the other side just above the bow very faint
