I was thinking of pulling the trigger on this coin because I like the toning, it's just very difficult for me to determine a grade based on the pictures and toning. I am also not positive that the toning on the reverse is 100% real, but he guarantee's all his coins are authentic and gives time to get them graded and slabbed etc.. Any of you experts want to give this one a shot? That would be helpful, thanks!

I'm no expert but I'll bite.

High XF or low AU but I'm leaning towards the XF+++.

Looks a strong MS 64....don't know about the toning. If someone did it they did a fantastic job. I honestly think it's natural. Absolutley gorgeous Morgan! Good luck!

The toning pattern's a tad irregular, but not out of the realm of possibility.

Being a New Orleans Morgan, you gotta make allowances for strike to determine grade. There is what looks like wear, but is it strike?

Nope. Look at the talons. They're among the first things to flatten with a poor strike, and they're rounded as they should be. Yet, showing wear. Likewise the breast. Note the hair on the obverse, above/behind the eye and below the ear. For strike to inhibit detail here, I'd expect a whole lot less at the ear to the extent that the ear and hair should be beginning to blend.

Call this one AU53-55 for grading/price determination. I'd own it.
