I went through my lenses last night and found I have a few duplicates and a few that either need cleaning or have scratches so are not worth a lot on ebay but still will shoot nice photos and are thus good for comparison purposes. I'm willing to "loan" these out to folks to test in their setups. I would make three requests to those who would like to "borrow" these from me...

1) That they publish some results on this forum
2) That they pay for actual shipping cost to them
3) That if they decide not to keep the lens, they make it available to others on same terms

This could allow folks to try out a lens they were considering buying, or to test different focal lengths for applicability to their setup, etc, just for cost of shipping. I won't ask for the lenses back.

The lenses I have available are:

Nikon 105/5.6 old style without M32.5-M39 adapter but front of lens has M39 threads under the trim ring
Nikon 80/5.6 old style with M32.5-M39 adapter
PZO AMAR/S 105/4.5 in M42 mount
Nikon 80/5.6 New style in M39
Nikon 75/4 New style in M39
Vivitar 75/3.5 in M39
Vivitar VHE 80/5.6 in M39

I'd prefer to lend only one or two to each requester, so pick one or two you would have interest in and send the request to this thread.

Reminder...these are not perfect lenses. They have a few scratches, haze, maybe a bit of fungus, etc but should still take nice pics.

How kind of you to offer these to other interested parties. I wish you had a clone in Australia.

Thanks robster, but so far no takers.

Anyway, I went through some more lenses tonight and am adding the following to the loaner list:

Tominon 75/4.5 in M40 mount. This will be the hardest to mount since M40 is an odd size (Copal-0) so beware
Spiratone 75/3.5 Flat Field Macro in T-Mount. This one is the smaller version.
Spiratone 150/4.5 Macrotel in T-Mount. For larger setups and taking pics of larger coins, medals, full holder shots

All the lenses are still available.

Well, since no one seems to be interested in these lenses, I will just put them on ebay to sell as a lot. I'm curious though as to why no one is interested in getting some usable lenses essentially for free? Do they sound like they're in too bad a condition to be useful? Is it my terms, ie do folks not want to post their results? Do they not want to post to the thread asking for the lenses? I suppose if it's any of these things then I will never find out...Ray

I am also a bit stunned that no one has taken up your fine offer. I understand the difficulties in sending them overseas but what I have done is taken copious notes of your suggestions and will be heading out this week to find some second hand gear here in South Australia. I have recently purchased a Nikon D3200 only to find it will not support "Control my Nikon" software. Regardless of this I am pushing ahead with great gusto and most of this is from the wonderful posts on this subject provided by your good self and others.!! Maybe it is a case of "Never look a gift horse in the mouth" versus "There is no such thing as a free lunch". Hoping this exercise has not dampened your enthusiasm for helping others.!!

robster...no worries about dampening enthusiasm! I enjoy this stuff too much. I am very curious though since I expected some uptake on this offer. Glad the efforts here are helping you out, and post with any questions as you head down the path. I'm still in learning mode myself and have at least two more "pushes" to go before I exhaust the limitations of physics and technology. Will love to hear how you fare in your quest for used gear down under...Ray

Ray, I am surprised as well that nobody has taken you up on your offer. I wish I have seen this 10 - 12 months ago. I am not sure if readers of this forum know that on average 75 mm and 80 mm El Nikkors go for around $50 on ebay (plus shipping), 105 mm El Nikkor will cost you north of $80 + shipping.

I thought this was a great opportunity for anybody to try these lenses and see if they would work for them.

Again, Ray thank you for your offer, I think with time some of the readers will realize how great this opportunity was.

Speaking for myself,I don't have the camera to make use of the lenses at this time, but I would like to thank you for the more than generous offer.I'm just not in need of the equipment at this time.
