Hi Everybody,

I need some help with determining the variety of this 1859 cent.
It has a blob from the tail of the 9 to the circle. It is the â†'â†' variety.

I would say a "Type 3,low 9". You'll need to get a straight edge and run it across the top of the 1859. If the nine is lower than all the others, you have a low 9. I think this is a type 3 because the nine has an oval and a "squarish" loop.

Also check the "1" for a double punch, although it looks normal in the scan. Also, check the "N" in Canada for a double punch "N". Either of these would be another Type 3 variety.

Hope this helps!
