well, here's a new bargain bin castulo coin I picked up...not that good but for 6.80 shipped, what the heck. I've been wanting one of these ancient iberian coins anyway.. hey, that's a hair from my dog! has he been into my coins?! anyway... 2nd century bc obv: male head rev: bull, crescent above the guy I got the said is was a "celtic coin of hispaia, (something I can't read), casutlo". do these castulo coins have a celtic link? AND do these go with in my "roman" or "not-roman" ancients box? I'm thinking "not roman"...seems greekish to me.

The non Roman Celtiberian tribes! Most were quasi-independent vassals of the Dominion of Carthage and later the Romans under Augustus. Kudos to you. I really like this type of coinage. One of the sellers I use often sells lots of these and all seem very different. Some even have a great deal of text!

well i'll be darned, I didn't know that. I always associated the celts with ireland/britian...but according the that article those were the last hold out during the time of julius c....the yellow core represents the "original" 6th century bc celts, the sea green maximum expansion of the people.
