Hi, this is my first post here, and I wonder if anyone knows if this is a real coin or if it is a fake? I can see that it once have been a brooch too.
The with is 39 mm.

Austrian Thaler of Archduke Ferdinand II. Filed at two points on the reverse for some kind of mount. I don't see anything that suggests a counterfeit.

Thanks both of you. It's the reverse side that I'm not sure about, but I'm no
expert on these coins. I collect Swedish banknotes instead.

Dated 1617, obviously. Its a really nice piece - good toning and hardly any wear on the obverse.

Are you looking to move it on? Stick about and after 250 posts (takes no time at all, really) and you could put it up for trade for Swedish Banknotes on the trading forum.

Thanks Ben. I was thinking about selling it on ebay but I wanted to check it first.
I have my eyes on a banknote that I want to buy and this will hopefully help a little.
