I am interested in finding websites or books that tell about the history behind US coins. I have many books now, such as Breen's Encyclopedia, but I am interested in learning more about the history of the coins. For example, I want to learn more about Half Cents. What was the economy at the time of the Half Cents, were they popular coins, why did the mint skip so many years only to resume production, etc.

Can anyone point me to a website or book that would have this information? I did a Google search and checked Wikipedia but couldn't find anything that was what I was looking for.
