This coin I dont know what the reverse is but allegedly the obverse is an abtracted bust of Apollo... I so cant see it, I dont think I will be entering it in the Apollo smackdown! The reverse is a horse! Was it not obvious? *turns off sarcasm mode.

On the obverse we can see the remnants of a laurel wreath (the herringbone pattern). Much of the remainder of the head is too abstract to make out. The horse is there if you look at it in the right way. Your last illustration shows it well. Bottom left of reverse - two vertical parallel lines being the forelegs. Just to the right of these are two horizontal curved lines being the body of the horse. To the tight of these are a Dot and Vertical line being a hind leg. Above the forlegs are a diagonal line rising right to left, which is the neck. to the left of this running left to right are two blobs with lines joining them being the head. The prototype was likely a coin of this type:- Philip II of Macedonia Bronze unit. Martin

WOW! That an interesting take on the coin. I don't think I could have designed a coin that abstract from the Philip if I tried. Its actually quite amazing the level of skill and interpretation that went in to these pieces. No take it a step further...Do you think they knew what they were making? Or do you think that they were just coping pre existing abstract types, and with every series got a little more "creative." I wonder do you think the locals using these coins knew what was on the obverse. Another interesting series is the Thasos (Thracian) Tetradrachms. Now there you see a great bust turned into what is a barley recognizable design...Wild..

The coin arrived in the post today and I can say with near certainty it is not silver but rather the debased version. Having said that I am still pleased enough with it...

My wife certainly thinks so. But not in any positive way, I think.

That sounds more like a burden than a collection Martin You will soon need a shovel to go through your coins

Thanks for trying Martin, don't worry if you can't find it (I would worry but I mean don't worry about getting me the weight, I can see the metal isn't pure silver)
I don't have all my coins catalogued but I know where every single one is from memory...simply because the way they are organised. I didn't know how many coins I had till I counted them the other day..."too many" wasn't specific enough for my signature.
