Hey guys ,

This is my first capped bust 50c. Really like the design and toning on it. What grade do you guys think it would get?

I like it for a nice, original coin. Low-grade Busties are very attractive in my opinion.

I'm going to call it F12. Others might differ because the obverse doesn't show that much detail; here's my reasoning.

Coins don't wear unevenly. The reverse of this coin shows low-VF detail, and the obverse is obviously a very worn die, noting the stars being so heavily drawn towards the rim, and the lack of denticles. So my F12 is something like an "averaged" grade between the two faces.

Of course, a Bust Half isn't done until the variety is attributed. I think this one is Overton-104.

I would say vg-10 obv. and F-12 reverse. some small rim dings but overall nice coin. so VG-10. just my opinion.

Those horizontal lines on the shield seem very strong.

I agree withe the F12. However, I'm leaning toward O-107.

I's on the wrong side of the T for 107.

Yeah, I should turn on a light when I'm looking at references... . The one looks raised though to me closer to Obv. 6 than Obv.4....no?

Tough call on the obverse. I called it Obv. 4 and O-104 based on T-I and the fact that O-108 (I considered it) called out A-M and C-A nearly touching, which this coin doesn't show. More a process of elimination than a positively-nailed attribution. It's not easy without star-denticle confirmation.

Thanks guys So F-12 and O-104 would be a safe bet for this one?

Nice original coin, I would agree with those at Fine-12.

I gotta say VG08. There needs to be at least a visible portion of the shoulder clasp for Fine (IMHO).

It's a very pretty coin. I like the design.

Nice coin - I love bust halves. I'm going with VG-10 not enough detail for F12.
