I paid particular attention to the thread that discussed modern coins we are or should be hoarding. I noticed that all Idaho State Quarters were on the list, so I went looking. I found a three coin deal of one silver proof, one clad proof and one business strike. Auction fever took over my usually frugal self and I won the bid at $15.50.

Since I'm a silver bull, I'm comfortable with the price for the silver coin alone. I just wonder what the community thinks the market value is of the three coins and what their potential value may be. Numismedia called the silver proof at $6.67.

Please know, this is only an intellectual interest and I'm only curious about other's thoughts. If you think I'm an idiot for paying that much, that's fine, I've got thick skin.

I am far from an expert, but looking around it looks like the nonsilver proof can be found for a few dollars on ebay.

Right now Id say the silver is worth melt or a little more, face for the business strike and a dollar or so for the clad. Maybe a little more if theyre real nice examples since you usually have to get a set to get them right out of a mint set. Their mintage is one of if not the lowest but it was still over 200 million for each mint.

That said I dont think youre an idiot, but I personally just dont see anything other than the graded 70s carrying substantial premiums in our lifetimes

Probablly no more than $13 ...at full retail....Actual value somewhat less....An idiot....I think not...You're smart enough to be talking about it on this coin forum! Also if you enjoy those coins,,Think their value may go up,, Enjoyed the auction,, What's wrong with that?
