to the community.

The coin is ancient Roman and appears to be a silver denarius of the emperor Commodus 177-192 AD.

Well the woman on the back of the coin is holding something like a trident, which I haven`t noticed in any Commodus denari. Also the coin is copper, and is about 2,5-3 mm thick.

LH - It's a cornucopia. Go to google and search 'Wildwinds Commodus' and then, on the page, Ctrl + F and search for cornucopia until oyu find a matching design. You'll find a LOT of variations in roman coins.

LadyHawk - good eye! Make sure you write it down though, I can never remember what my coins are.

you can also get text based stuff on it, by clicking either 'text' or pressing on the image - this one is from an auction. The nicer condition coin sold for £53! Yours is a bit beaten up, but still a good catch.
