Hello, I am new to this forum, and I want to thank all the people that share their knowledge with rookies like me.

One thing I have noticed in my area is the fact that I have never heard of a coin show or event-related around here.

I live in the Texan border with Mexico, El Paso-Las Cruces area, and the only place I know for numismatics is one where the owner yells at customers and has no patience with people.

I would like to know if some of you know a way of sharing this passion around my area, or if there are some lost numismatics like me scattered throughout this region!

Anything helps

Sorry I don't know of any shops or collectors in your area. You have come to the right place though if you want to learn about coins and meet friendly and knowledgeable collectors. This section of the forum deals with ancient coins. Is that what you are interested in? Please feel free to ask any questions, we would be more than happy to help if we can.

Welcome. I was stationed at Ft Bliss when I first started collecting Ancients a few decades ago. I'm surprised there are no coin shops in El Paso, but I'd be surprised to find them much in the Las Cruses area. Like echizento said, though, stick around here for friendly advice and opinions. If you are looking to buy Ancients, a good place to start would be the shops on Vcoins.

....

Not sure about the Texas area, but us Ancient Coin collectors are few and far between, each person with their own tastes, interests, collecting standards and years in hobby make this a great place to ask questions, see stuff you don't see everyday or contract a gross and incurable form of coin collecting disease...ancientcoinbuytillyoudie syndrome...and again welcome....

I too thought of cake...I was like "hummm...someone so passionate about coins they made a cake with coins on it." and immediately thought of the difficulties due to digestion etc...that's what made me click on the link! I wanted to find out about how to put coins on a cake!

Did someone mention cake?

Hmmm, Cake. You know, cake is health food, right? Eggs, milk, a little flour and sugar, and whalaa!

No need to apologize and, please, don't be offended. Most of us have made similar mistakes, at least I know I have. The cake bit was a way to inject humor, so thanks for the good laugh. Have you found any coins?

This bunch here on the Ancient CCF likes to have fun and eat their cake too!

If you do not have any shops in your area try Vcoins.com. The site has been getting some construction work lately but should be back up soon I think.

If you find a coin that you like...post it here before you buy to inquire about price an authenticity.

- No need to apologize

Good look finding a local show - in the mean time share your passion (and your cake) here, we always like seeing new members and new coins.
