Recently bought another coin of Leo I, making it my third coin of him and my first of this reverse type for him. I have it attributed as RIC X 710 Nicomedia.

Leo I AE4

Obv: DN LEOS PF AVG, pearl-diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right
Rev: Leo standing facing with head right, a long cross in right hand, and left hand on head of kneeling captive, NIC in ex, Nicomedia mint

9mm wide

I don't have one either. I do know that they are of very poor condition but I am looking for one for a decent price that has a positive attribution as possible. A difficult task. lol

Nice coin!

Love how poor the art on these coins get from the heyday of roman coinage - I'm getting some late roman coins soon (perhaps early byzantine) and I have to say it represents a very much forgotten part of numismatic history

Funny, I have the captive reverse, the lion reverse, and the Verina standing reverse, but not a monogram reverse (yet).

Here are my other two Leos:

Lion reverse, Constantinople mint

I got some AE4s floating around my unattributed pile. I really want to add something to this thread.... Very interesting.
