12/03 311 AD Diocletian dies at his palace at Spalato.Due to a serious illness he decided to abdicate the throne on 1 May 304 AD. After this he lived in his palace until his death, dedicated to the cultivation of his gardens and orchards. Diocletian was the only emperor in Rome's long history to voluntarily remove himself from the throne.

12/04 54 AD Cicero is executed by the Triumvirs during their brutal proscriptions. Cicero became an enemy of Mark Antony in the ensuing power struggle, attacking him in a series of speeches. He was declared as an enemy of the state by the Second Triumvirate and was executed as he tried to flee Rome.

An interesting coin that was once mine but sadly I had to part with it a couple of years ago.
