Prison-Coin #1 => 1st of 15 coins (Akanthos Bull Tetrobol) Hi gang!! ... wow, it is great to be back in the ol' swing of things!! I really missed all of your banter, but most of all I missed being able to comment on all of your wonderful new coins!! Man, a few of you have been buying-up coins almost as quickly as drunken-stevex6!! (well done, my coin brothers)  NOTE: During my stay in Coin-Alcatraz, I had nuthin' to do but surf for coins and pull the trigger whenever a plump target came into view!! ... amazingly, I ended-up buying "15" coins during my one-month sentence!! => I have decided to roll them out "one-at-a-time", from oldest to newest ... so this is the oldest of my fifteen new babies: MACEDON, Akanthos AR TetrobolCirca 470-390 BC Diameter: 16mm Weight: 2.31 grams Obverse: Forepart of bull left, head right; two laurel branches above Reverse: Quadripartite incuse square with granulated recesses Reference: SNG ANS 35 Other: Good VF  ... please welcome "Macey" to my stable!! Very nice Coin!
From this, I`m wondering if the attribution is off... it looks like the Egyptian Goddess Hathor due to the ball behind the bulls head... just like the symbol of Hathor

I`ll guess the price was $175 or so..
and I wasn`t wondering if your attribution is off, but if the long held opinion on what the bull is is off...
It is always better to question than to keep a mistake.

Ummm, did I mention that this is the first of "15" coins!!? Yah, I like this coin ... I like all of my prison-coins (I hope that you guys think that they're total winners!!) Ski is definitely correct => this good ol' bull looks pretty mellow and laid-back!! (it looks like he's led a good life)  |
