I found this in the cash drawer last week. It is a mint set coin that was spent as the 1999 polar bear was only available in mint sets. With a mintage of only 117318 this is now the rarest coin I own (that I know of). Which variety is this one? I know several types were in sets made in 1999.
Thanks in advance!

I have an SP and 3 PLs but can't really help with what you have. It's really a shame that someone put it in circulation but it's a great find for you.

I believe this is the one from the prooflike set, which as you mentioned had a mintage of 117,318. It doesn't appear to be from the specimen set as I can't see any traces of a specimen finish - granted it is heavily circulated and I haven't seen any specimen finish coins in that condition for comparison.

For the 1999 (polar bear) toonie, there is only these two varieties. For the 1999 Nunavut toonie, there are several.

Rounded lettering and not "square" edge - this is a PL coin (impaired proof-like)

Nice find. A keeper.

I just pulled one of these out of circulation myself. It's rather well circulated but still looks like it may have been PL at one time. I don't know much about the varieties but whichever variety it is, I'm a happy guy!

Are there more details on this? Any article written up?

Cool find! I have since found a 1999 loonie and a 2007 loonie both from sets in change.
