Quote:
The most beloved goddess of Greece, Artemis was honored in rituals that were wildly popular although as varied as the forms of the goddess herself. At Ephesus, in her well-endowed temple, Artemis was served by chaste priestesses called Mellisai, or "bees," and by eunuch priests.

... ummm, I'm not sure if this quote partially explains the "bee" on the Ephesus coin, but it kinda made sense ...

I can imagine this being given to the priests at the Great Temple of Artemis at Epheseus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World!

Heres my bronze one:

Bees are used because of Ephesian trade, I believe. Although, it could, apparently, be a wasp, but I strongly doubt it.

Mine is slightly curved, a mini bowl shape. Is yours flat?

Wow BenByfield, awesome AE-BEE ...

Ummm, I don't have any of these 15 prison-coins "in-hand" yet, but my coin looks to be fairly flat from the seller's photo ...
