I think you should drill a hole in the top and make a necklace out of it since it is a gift from a loved one.

my dad gave me a 1976 half dollar in a big awkward case. I never took it out. I make room for it :)

Oh and for the record, the slab is a constant reminder of being taken so it won't last too long!

Taken how? Sounds like she paid about what it was worth.

Yeah, I would have to say that is the lowest graded SGS I have ever seen. LOL

I kind of have to go with Earle. Let her know just how much it means to you that she thought that much of you and took the time to think of something you truly appreciate. It shows how much she loves you (in whatever appropriate way that might be, wife, daughter, sister) and that she thinks fairly highly of you. Immediately followed by exactly why that coin won't stay in that slab, but WILL be lovingly placed in an airtight (because does a 2x2 REALLY say you cherish that coin?) to protect it. If you feel that that will do the trick, woohoo! If not, keep that bad boy in that slab and just deal with it!

After getting all of your opinions, I must say that I have changed my mind. I'm going to display that SGS as though it's my pride and glory acquisition. I want to thank you all for reminding me that it was a gift from the heart and not to see it merely as a prize or an investment only. From time to time, I tend to get caught up in the grades/values and forget the care and love the Mrs. took to try to understand my world and participate in it.

Merry Christmas to all!
