Can anyone tell me more about this PL set stamp COTY at the top
This is a 1971 year set.

That set wasn't produced by the mint. It was put together after market. The coins may by PL, but based on the pictures, I'd say they're not. COTY likely means Coins of the Year.

The coins of the year club in Saskatchewan put together sets starting on the late 1950's and the coins are usually very nice MS NOT PL coins........... I just sold the 1958 set in an old WAYTE Raymond style holder they used (all coins incredible tone) for $500.00 and the buyer didin't even blink! I have cut up some from 1959 through 1962 and obtained ICCS MS 65 on more than a few!
