Fortunately my grandson is quite knowledgeable about computers and I will be seeing him next week when he will sort it out for me.

He will probably say I'm being overly paranoid. That would be a true statement. However, my experience in this regard goes back more than two decades, and I've seen some pretty screwed-up stuff in that time. If *anything* is amiss with a computer, the very first step is to push the panic button and prove that no virus/malware is connected to the problem, and in a majority of cases it is.

If not, then we explore what role your ISP may be playing.

I'm probably around the age of said grandson... My experience might be a little less than Dave, but I know what I am doing.

I wouldn't say you are being paranoid Dave.... It's a distinct possibility.

I've had a pair of computers in the family that was destroyed by virus', and they can be really, really bad. One of them was destroyed outright, while the other took seven years... and ended with 99% corruption... That's because one virus caused it to not be able to overwrite data..

There are a lot of bad viruses that are easy to get online.... Always use a good firewall and security software!

Firstly Dave, I would like to say that I don't think you are being paranoid. And I'm sure the grandson wont either. And like I said earlier, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to point this problem out. As I am sure many other members will feel the same. It's certainly going to make me more aware of problems in the future.
Secondly Bobby, I am finally on there and have created my first post and everything looks ok. So thank you for your help in this.
