Date: 459-484 AD
Diameter: 28.1 mm
Weight: 4.1 grams
Obverse: Bust of Peroz
Reverse: Fire altar with attendants at sides

Think, if you will, how this compares to the Roman coins of that same time. While Romulus Augustulus was busy falling, Peroz was putting out good size hunks of high grade silver. Peroz did have his own troubles with uncouth barbarians (read about him) and those barbarians copied his coins just like the Vandals did the late Romans. Everything out East was just on a more flashy scale.

We would all collect these coins more readily if only the inscriptions were written in some nice, easy to read alphabet like Greek. The script on these things is quite a task.

these coins are suber cool! this one doesn't have the stars and moons on the edge (12, 3, 6, 9 oclock)..interesting.
