Do you think this 1671 Sweden 1/6 Ore is authentic? What would you value this one?

To my eyes, it doesn't have the look of a recent knock-off.
These were pretty roughly made, and it could be burial + cleaning added to the roughness.
Here's one I have from 1667 with similar details, but maybe a little less porosity.

I am not happy with the surface texture of the fields. If they are as badly marked as they appear to be, why is the detail of the type so well preserved?

Just a question first--is this coin in your possession, or are you considering buying it?
I ask because I see the same exact coin on ebay.

Here's a little more info on this coin series, which confirms my suspicions about the raised streaks often seen in the fields--they are likely due to the effect of the coining stock moving through the roller press, and probably had different wear atrributes than dies. In fact, I have a picture in a book from Denmark showing similar marks caused by roller dies.

"These distinctive coins were struck using a roller press - two steel cylinders with obverse dies on 1 and reverse dies on the other. The designs were stamped onto strips of copper. If the rollers didn't align, parts of the design would be missing on the finished coin. This only adds to their classic charm. "

Great info DV! Yes, I am considering purchase. I am on the fence. I will have to see how bidding goes. I am terrible at winning auctions. Wanna see my bird imitation?: Cheap, Cheap, Cheap...

Cheap is a good strategy, because presently I think $26 is a bit high because of the harsh cleaning.
