So I have been sharing my newest interest in a previous thread: https://goccf.com/t/132296

Well, thanks to my continued computer wizadry, I messed up the pictures in the thread and wanted to start fresh. Thanks to jbuck for offering to help.

For the past few months, I have been researching, searching for, and collecting circulated classic commemoratives.

Thanks to the continued help from nickelsearcher and not mint to be, I have stayed pretty enthusiastic about these awesome coins.

Its funny, they are so tough to find, and I am so intent on finding them, it gets depressing when you dont come across anything new to look at for days at a time. The time that these two gentlemen have spent answering questions and generally keeping me entertained between spottings has been just amazing. It takes the most dedicated collectors to spend so much of their personal time helping others.

Anyway, in the last week or two I have made a few decisions and alot less moves! I did buy a dansco 7095, so I am apparently in this for the long haul.

I also made an upgrade and purchased one new beauty before the "crash".

First up in my new oddessy (please note the sarcasm) is this awesome California, purchased from nickelsearcher, which I busted out of an ANACS F12 slab:

Next up is a Booker T Washington, which has replaced the first. The coin I purchased first is an FR02ish coin, but the date has rubbed off completely. Love the coin and will keep int in an empty hole in the album, but I want to know which years they are. Heres the first:

This is the new coin, an VF30ish 1946P:

Heres the first coin I got. Its an FR02 Stone Mountain, which was a generous gift from nickelsearcher. Its the coin that ultimately made me decide to pursue this collection:

I will go ahead and share the rest of my coins, without further commentary. Thanks for looking!

Oh, grades dont count as commentary, lol.

AG03 Sesquicentennial:

VG08 Pilgrim:

Sorry, that was tedious. I messed up on a few pics.

I also had a problem with this VG08 Pilgrim:

Thanks!

Bummer to learn that you have to start over with the photos ... but thrilled to see them all again from your growing and impressive circulated set.

I humbly accept your kind acknowledgment for the limited support I have offered to you HONDO ...

Focus here is on your coins and your collecting goals.

Enjoying the title to this thread ... speaks to all of us who are chasing difficult sets ... a mantra we should all keep in mind.

Looking forward to many more coins from you as you search to fill the holes in that Dansco .. know that I will do what I can to challenge your knowledge and support your efforts.

Stay True to the Quest

You definately have a good start on your set. I like the FR02's Stone Mountain and Oregon. When you start collect circ commems you just can't say I'm going after the Hudson and then the Lynchburg. You have to be ready for what ever comes along. And you just don't know what will be next. Great pics too.

Three very pretty additions HONDO.

Good for your Dad to find that San Diego for you. I enjoy the surfaces of your 1921 Pilgrim ... you know have both of those holes in your Dansco filled.

The search continues for these fabulous ... and difficult ... coins.

Any thoughts on grades for these new coins?
My guesses are as follows...

Pilgrim: F15
San Diego: XF45
GWC: VF25

I would agree with the Pilgrim and San Diego on grades. The GWC wouldn't grade with the rim damage but without that I'd go VF30-35

Congrats on the latest additions! You're making nice progress on your set.

Even in XF, the San Diego's attractive design "shines" through.
