Quote: You may think this post is long and wordy but I felt it very important to address your issues and to let you know a little bit more about WINGS and who we are. Not a problem. I also want to thank you for sharing some of your time with us.

No, I wish to thank you and everyone else who has shown an interest. I can easily understand why the comments were made.
I believe in honesty and straight forward communication and that's why I felt it important to share with the group just who are the individuals behind the company. We hope over time the collecting community will have the assurance and confidence to buy a coin with the WINGS gold sticker. If the coin deserves the gold sticker it gets it and vice-versa.
And do you know who will ultimately determine if a WINGS coin is a special coin for that grade? You and other world coin collectors. We believe that those who are qualified to grade a coin (very few) will see that any WINGS coin is a great coin for the grade. Their trust will spread over time to others.
If we were in just for a short term profit then we would gold sticker most submitted coins just to increase sales. Short term good, long term disaster. We are here for the long run. Only those coins eligible for a gold sticker will get one. Really.
We are trying to build our reputation (the most important intangible) and I know that actions speak louder than words. So we hope that you will see over time that we are what we say we are.
And yes I absolutely will stop by and introduce myself. I look forward to it. We are at booth 601.
Take care Larry

With Lance at the helm, I for one knows his reputation from years back, this is why I placed a second comment (with my 2001 dealer badge) on your business when I read WINGS Coin World Advertisment and felt I should correct my first somewhat sarcastic comment. All my World Coins are errors, where in my opinion grade is not as important as the verification of the error itself. Thanks for the company introduction, I enjoyed it...

Hi SuperDave Just wanted to say that it was nice to meet you at the FUN show. Always nice to put a face with a name (even though you did have a blank stare at first:) ). Thanks Larry Michelson

The pleasure was mine, Larry. Masochistic as it might seem, it's always refreshing to be slapped across the face with one's failings. All the same, there can no longer be any doubt about you and your firm's sincerity and commitment, and I hope this takes off for you.

Larry, thanks very much for all of the information you have provided in this thread. I just have a quick question. I have a coin (one of my favorite) that has been in my collection for 1-2 years. When I purchased the coin, I had no clue what the WINGS sticker meant. My question is, does your database include all historical coins to which this sticker was affixed? I heard (through the grapevine) that at one time Larry (Tchor) was affixing these stickers to coins that passed through his hands when the coins met WINGS standards, but sort of "willy-nilly" in the sense that submissions were not being accepted. I'm hoping that even those coins were recorded and tracked? Sorry for the quality of the picture below, but this is my coin in question. I did note that you website will eventually have a verification lookup function (which is great!). I believe this coin would have been stickered sometime in 2010? Thanks in advance, -Brandon

Sorry for spelling error. It is "now" not "know". Sometimes the fingers work faster than the brain:)

Hi I'm back. Just been crazy busy now that WINGS has launched at the FUN show. The receptions and submissions that we received at the FUN show just blew away our wildest expectations. I know that you have been patiently waiting for an answer and I appreciate it. Lance has provided me with the following since I was not around at the beginning and I am unable to answer you. When Lance started WINGS his initial idea was to sticker solid for the grade certified world coins (similar to CAC for US coins). As his vision progressed he made a decision a couple of years ago to sticker Premium Quality for the grade world coins and that is the standard we now require before stickering a coin. He did not take submissions but he did sticker many coins from dealers that were deserving. Unfortunately he only kept partial records so there is no complete data base for previously stickered coins. At the beginning it was his belief that by doing these reviews for free for dealers that eventually it would create a demand from the public. Obviously that has now changed since I have taken over the administrative reins. He's more of the coin guy, I'm the business guy. Our marketing approach has totally changed but the bottom line is the same- we only sticker PQ coins for the grade. Due to some of the original coins not being recorded we are standing behind the following offer: WE WILL REVIEW FOR FREE ANY COIN THAT HAS A WINGS STICKER. IF IT DESERVES TO BE STICKERED IT WILL BE ENTERED IN OUR DATABASE AND IF NOT THE STICKER WILL BE REMOVED. The only expense you would incur is the normal shipping and handling unless you wish to bring it to a show that we are attending (see the website for dates of shows we are attending). In that event we will bump you to the head of the line and make sure that your coin is reviewed before the show ends. You can then pick it up at our booth. Now as you can plainly see, as with any new entity, mistakes are made. We will continue to make mistakes. We can promise that we will work very hard to correct them. One way is for guys like you to make us aware of anything that you may think is wrong. I believe in an "open door" policy and would welcome any comments. As a personal aside to brg, Lance not only remembers your coin he loved it. It has been entered into our data base since it is a PQ coin. Thanks again everyone for your patience and understanding. Take care Larry Michelson PS. If you wish to contact me directly outside of this blog please email me at Larry@wingscoins.com. Thank you

I forgot one thing. Brg emailed me directly asking the following: "I did have one other question. I could not find on your website the extent of "world coins" you would review for WINGS status. For example, do you review only coins struck for circulation, essais, piefort essais, and proofs? Or would you also review such things as Conder tokens? World medals (e.g., Mudie medals and BHM medals)? You may want to add a bit more detail on your website specifically listing the types of world coins/medals/tokens that WINGS will review."
We review all world coins slabbed by the services including tokens and medals. We do not accept ancients.
I appreciate the website recommendation. I will have this added. Thank you
Take care Larry Michelson
BTW, if any of you live near Long Beach we will be at the show next week and would love to meet you.

Brandon, I know this sounds corny but WINGS is in the service industry. How could we ever expect to stay in business if we are not responsive to questions? As I previously mentioned our goal is to have great customer service. You guys are our lifeline. Can't see why I would want to cut it. Take care Larry
