Hi guys while I am still very very green in knowledge of coin collecting, I have a question...
on the TGP they have a population report
example: 1888 Morgan dollar PCGS MS66 the population report is 150.
What does it mean?
Does it only apply for that TGP or for all of them?
This is so confusing
it was only a example of the Morgan that I made up

It only applies for that particular TPG. In this case PCGS has graded 150 1888 Morgans MS66. Could be crack-out (i.e. duplicates) in there as well. This causes significant problems with truly scarce coins where only a handful are known to exist but one TPG has graded 20 or more!

Go to Heritage and look up most any $100+ coin. Gives you all the details for both PCGS and NGC in all grades and lists every price list known to man. Heritage's own price determination is one of the very best for pricing among the dozen listed. They list a low and high range in each grade, such as $200-$250. If you can find a coin you like at the low end - buy it.
