My wife and daughter spent some quality time (shopping spree) together today.

She calls me at one point and tells me they stopped at a used bookstore and she found a book on coins for me. She said it was a thin book about the Sacagawea dollar. I asked her how much she spent for it, and she said a dollar and a half. I told her she done good (hey, it was only a buck and a half, right?).

She gets home a while later and proudly presents her find. What she bought was a Harris folder, the Millenium Edition. A three page folder with a slot for the obverse and another for the reverse on the left; a single slot on the center; and then a slot for a P mint and one for a D mint on the right.

The kicker?

All 5 slots had a Sac in them. Not mint condition or anything, but...

When I showed them to her she said, "Oh, that's not a book is it? I guess I should've opened it before I bought it."

I love this woman.

When it comes to coins...

Yes.

She came home one day a week or so after the bug hit me and I started collecting again and was all excited. "I found a real old penny on the ground for you."

It was a 1983 that was beat all to heck. Dirty, scratched, even a little bent.

She was crushed when I told her it probably wasn't even worth one cent anymore.

I put it in a 2X2 and wrote, "The Diana Cent" on it and put it in my notebook. A while back a friend was looking at my coins and asked about it. She overheard him and was surprised I'd kept it. The fact that she takes the time to "help" makes anything she comes up with nearly priceless for me.

Mathman: would you tell your wife I'll give her three dollars for what she bought? She'll get her original 1.50 back + make $1.50! (lol!)

That's a great find. When you were just expecting a book, you had to be really happy to find out it also had coins. Congratulations to you, your wife and your daughter. Hopefully they will catch the bug also.

Very nice! A friend of mine went to a yard sale and bought a belt for a quarter that had a silver dollar mounted in the belt buckle.

When my wife helps me it doesn't always turn out so good. I had a pick up truck for sale one time and my wife decided to run an ad in the paper while I was out of town. She had 3 people lined up to come look at it the day I got back. Which I thought was great as I had ran an ad a few weeks before and only had a few calls on it. I asked her what she put in the ad that had made it so successful. Just that it was a 3/4 ton extended cab diesel for $500. OUCH!!!
