The Wheat cents was around when I was young, then the Lincoln cents made their debut. Then they stuck around for so long that they were basically a backdrop that weren't thought about. They were just accepted as the way things were after all they had a run of 60 years. If the shields last that long how would we feel about them in 2060. Even today's young kids will be old collectors and the rest of the old guard will not be around to say how things were when we were kids.
