Just wondering what you use for the State Quarter holder that would work best for kids. Something that will hold the coins where they would not fall out and something that can show both sides of the coins? Any suggestions? |

I would suggust Air-Tites. They hold a coin really well and are inexpensive compared to others. Depending on how many you need, you may be able to purchase these in bulk.

I prefer an album such as Dansco, it allows both sides to be seen, keeps them in order, gives a quick overall visual that: 1. shows which coins are needed to fill the "holes", 2. displays the coins in a nice array without having to physically arrange the coins from a tray, 3. gives excellent protection, and 4. gives a sense of accomplishment as you fill the empty spaces finally getting that last one in place. JMHO, for me it is the only way to go; but I don't like steak sauce on my steak and many others do...matter of personal taste and preference. There are many other very good ways to do the coins, you just have to weigh them all and decide what floats your boat the highest.

I like the 2x2 coin flips. You can store them in pastic pages and view both sides.

I have a four year-old son. I bought him one of those maps that has cut-outs for the quarters. Whenever he does something like feed the cat or help clean up after his little brother, I give him another circulated quarter to add to the map. It helps him learn the states plus I can explain a little about the states by what is on the quarters.

Like Bob I also prefer dansco, it makes a nice presentation when showing your coins. Also dansco albums are very affordable and should last for many years the best albums made in my opinion.

The Dansco album would work nice. If you did do Airtites they do make a State Quarter album that hold the coin inside the airtite, but IIRC they're kind of expensive. Edited by AnemicOak

You can get plastic Whitman holders that snap together -- just like the birth-year holders, but they have five holes for quarters. I started that way, but last year switched them all to a Dansco album. For kids, though, the holders for each year/mint would be easy to hold and turn over in their hands to see the both sides, and with five together, they wouldn't have to deal with 50 or 100 coins in individual holders.
Just a thought.

Do they make airtites for penny through quarter coins? I have purchased airtites on ebay for my halfs and dollar coins, but have never seen any smaller ones. |
