New member here so please bear with me in what might be a simple question for most of you.

Lookin on E-Bay for coins I seem to notice that MS 65 Red coins are selling for much more than PL or SP coins? Why is that? Are MS coins in general more desirable?

Also if I wanted to get some coins graded by ICCS what is the process? I can't seem to find much informtion about what it costs per coin or say per 10 or 20 coins?

Any information is greatly appreciated!

First of all

Now as for your questions, I personally have never submitted anything to ICCS however, someone on this forum will be glad to help.

Regarding your question regarding MS, PL, and SP. These are all different types of coins. MS coins as the regular coins that can be found in circulation thus it is harder to find one in top condition based on how they are made etc. PL is for prooflike coins and SP is for specimen coins. These coins comes from sets and are thus easier to get in top condition. These coins all have different appearances (finishes to them). Hopefully that answers part of your question

If you call ICCS and ask for the form for submitting coins they will mail you the form that has all pricing and return shipping info needed.
416-488-8620
1-5 coins @ $15.00 each
6 or more @ $11.00 each
50 or more @ $8.50 each
100 or more @ $6.50 each

$13.00 for return shipping to Canada $22.00 to USA

Return insurance $5.00 per $1000.00

Plus tax on the total.

Hope this helps.

So in general, it would be better to have MS coins than a PL or SP coin of the same grade from a collectability standpoint, and perhaps a financial one too?

Thanks for the info on ICCS..I'm pleasantly suprised it's cheaper than I thought.

Great reading all the questions and answers on the forum..really handy information!!

I would say generally most people prefer to have MS coins which typically means that a MS-64 coin is more expensive than a PL-64 coin.

PL is typically issued to collectors and the number of these coins mintage) rarely diminishes unless mass melting is done.
MS are circulation strikes and the number of mint state coins wears out in circulation easeily.
Also keep in mind that some MS coins issaued in sets are graded as "Numismatic BU".
